Making the Main Page more appealing

If we want to get people more attracted to this wiki, enhancing the main page would be great. The current layout is great for its compact layout, but feels boring, especially the first time you open the wiki. It needs some refreshment. Adding some colorful screenshots and icons would be great. For example, it could contain links to some maps (either official-only or also curated) labeled by some appealing screenshots. That way, some basic articles would also be more accessible.

This would though require changing focus of the page. Instead of focusing on entire SDG, I propose to really concentrate on Unturned. Unturned II and SDG-meta could be moved to some lower parts of the page or replaced with single links in some minor section while most parts of the layouts could be filled by Unturned 3.0 stuff (as mentioned above, maps; but also mechanics, item groups and placeable types).

The first thing is something on the long-term plan, but isn't something I'm personally working on right now. There's a couple wiki editors who have expressed interest in making actual mockups for a redesign, but I haven't been sent any of these yet. The second thing is also kinda-planned – the purpose of the wiki has changed a lot over its original release vs. today. Unturned (version 3) is the main subject matter of the wiki nowadays, while in the past it had to accommodate Unturned II in addition to current, older, and future projects. Any mockups/ideas you have regarding a main page refresh is fair game to share, or I can see about directing you to someone else who was wanting to make a mockup. (Similarly – if there's specific official images you need for a mockup, e.g. official logos & such, feel free to let me know.)—MoltonMontro (talk) 18:14, July 10, 2023 (UTC)
